In Pallars Sobirà, a region rich in biodiversity, one can find a great variety of animal species adapted to its diverse mountain habitats.

Their presence enriches the local ecosystem and offers visitors the opportunity to appreciate wildlife in its natural environment.

Roe deer and Pyrenean chamois

The roe deer is a medium-sized herbivorous mammal that inhabits forests and alpine meadows. It is recognized by its branched horns and its agility in mountainous terrain.

In contrast, the chamois are slightly larger and more robust than chamois. The chamoi’s horns are longer, thicker, and curved backwards.

Brown bear, marmot and squirrel

One of the main protagonists of the fauna in Pallars Sobirà is the brown bear, although currently it is a protected and rare species. On a smaller scale, there is the marmot, a large and robust rodent that grazes in high mountain meadows.

These and many other species form the rich and varied ecosystem of Pallars Sobirà.
